Who, What, Where and more importantly, Why?
I'm sure you're wondering why we're whiny. Ok so not all of us are whiny all the time, but moving to Germany has it's challenges. That's where we come in. We're expats living all over Germany and from a variety of countries so you won't get information just from one region or point of view.
Towards the end of 2005 we started getting a huge influx (ok not HUGE) of people from other places coming to live here. As someone who has lived here nearly 2 years I relived their concerns and anxieties about coming to a country where the first challenge is getting yourself understood.
If you research, you will find a few wonderful sites that offer extremely important information on how to adapt to life here in Germany. From the socio/political information to how to get your child into a school, these websites provide the newly transplanted expat with the necessary steps.
Upon further reading of said websites you will no doubt come across articles and resources such as how to learn to interact with Germans in social or business scenarios. Or perhaps they tell you what you need to do in order to obtain a residence visa. Both are vital topics but only part of a larger picture that often finds the smaller details being left out.
What we want to provide here is more of a "behind the scenes" look at Germany. We had to learn a lot of stuff the hard way and we're doing this so you don't have to.
We're constantly adding content and if you have a question, please go ahead and email us! Enjoy and if you know someone who may benefit send 'em our way.
